Microsoft Word Rotate Text 90

Click in the document and drag to draw the text box the size that you want. Click inside the text box and type or paste text. Tilt the text using any of the following steps. Note that you see the change as soon as you click outside the text box. With the insertion point in the text box, click Rotate on the Drawing Tools Format tab. To rotate the object 90 degrees to the right, click Rotate Right 90°. To rotate the object 90 degrees to the left, click Rotate Left 90°. If you don't see the Drawing Tools or Picture Tools Format tabs, make sure that you've selected a text box, shape, WordArt or picture.

No, Word Tables cannot be rotated. You have some options, though;
  • If the table occupies a page by itself you can create Section Breaks to isolate the page & change the orientation of only that page to Landscape, or
  • You can cut the table then use Edit> Paste Special - Picture then rotate the picture.

You can insert a table into a text box. Then you can rotate the text box, which has the same effect as rotating the table.

Rotate Entire Page In Word

That's certainly another option but I wouldn't rely on the stability of the document :-)
Also, the text box has to be rotated back to vertical in order to edit the table... Depending on the table's size that can be a definite problem.

I was able to type in the cells while the table was rotated. It took careful clicking to get the cursor into a table cell.

Microsoft Word Rotate Text Box 90 Degrees

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorry I didn't clearly state the point -- It isn't that you can't type in the rotated table, it's just that you have to stand on your ear to read it :-)

@ Bob - LOL - I've never seen you do gymnastics. Maybe we need a phys ed or Zen session at the summit. My suggestion is to grab the green dot and rotate the table in Word rather than rotating your body on the table unless you enjoy that sort of physical activity.
